The trouble with simple living is that, though it can be joyful, rich, and creative, it isn't simple. ~Doris Janzen Longacre

Sunflowers and my army of workers ....
Just love this pic, it's so happy don't ya think.
Wonder what's Harry up to in Miss Daisy's house, she has been kicked out of her yard when it got turned into another veggie patch. Not that she ever really used it much.
The Mathildas hard at work looking for grubs and bugs.
They doing a great job too.
More sunflowers to brighten your day. I got a heap of work waiting for me, Roma tomatoes are drying in the food dehydrator atm, this time I am using vegetable oil, not olive, I have been told by Elizabeth from our local IGA, never to use olive oil, she should know she's Italian. And later on today I will be baking a banana loaf and making peach chutney (Mrs Ball recipe)
Have a great weekend

ReplyDeleteChooks do a great job digging the garedn and getting rid of things we don't need in there.
Looks like you have a busy day ahead in the kitchen.

ReplyDeleteLove your sunflowers. Mine were eaten by bugs last year and I wasn't there to put some hot sauce down to keep them away. Perhaps I'll have better luck next Spring. In the meantime I am enjoying yours. :)
ReplyDeleteRina,I LOVE your sunflower pics! They are so beautiful.Right now here in New Hampshire we have over a foot of snow,it's in the teens and it's lightly snowing,so the sight of sunflowers are very welcome!
ReplyDeleteI believe that you run the risk of botulism using olive oil with dried tomatoes. Love the sunflower pics. Do you know I'm a bit miffed...mine have grown huge and lovely...and they permanently look over the fence at my neighbours and all I see is the backs of their heads!
ReplyDeleteHi Tanya, your right, I knew something was not very right when they started fermenting and rose to the top of the jars, I threw them out but this lastest batch looks good. It's all a learning curve.
ReplyDeleteI would have never guessed about the vegetable oil!! Well Ill learn by your mistake and not make it myself. Love the Sunflowers!! Thanks for the updates I check often. Missing you my friend.
